SkyPier Terminal Ferry Service

SkyPier Terminal at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) provides speedy ferry services for transfer passengers.

SkyPier Terminal serves the following nine ports in the Greater Bay Area, connecting the region to over 200 destinations worldwide.

  • Guangzhou Nansha
  • Guangzhou Pazhou
  • Macao (Maritime Ferry Terminal)
  • Macao (Taipa)*
  • Shenzhen Fuyong

Note: SkyPier Terminal is for transfer passengers only. It is not applicable to passengers originating from Hong Kong.

To & from Mainland China & Macao

To have a pleasant journey to and from the airport, we have put together some tips and suggestions for you.

  • To Mainland China & Macao

    Passengers looking to take a ferry to the Mainland China or Macao should proceed to the ferry ticketing counter at Transfer Area E2. DO NOT go through immigration and reclaim your baggage. Passengers who have gone through immigration procedures CANNOT return to the ferry ticketing counter and use the ferry service.

    To use the service, passengers must:

    • Possess the following items:
      - Same day arrival flight air ticket / e-ticket / boarding pass stub
      - A valid ferry ticket
      - A valid passport and, if applicable, a visa for the intended destination (Mainland China / Macao)
    • Transfer to Mainland China / Macao within the same day of arrival
    • Arrive at the Ferries to Mainland / Macao Ticketing Counter located at Transfer Area E2 at least 60 minutes before the scheduled ferry departure time for ticketing and transfer procedures. For passengers without checked baggage, 30 minutes would be sufficient;
    • For passengers with checked baggage, please present the airline baggage tag receipt for customs clearance and baggage transfer procedures.

  • From Mainland China & Macao

    Travellers from the Mainland China and Macao can enjoy the speedy ferry service to HKIA.

    To use the service, passengers must:

    • Possess a valid ferry ticket
    • A valid air ticket of participating airlines with a confirmed flight booking for same day travel (including mid-night departures)
    • A valid passport and visa for the intended destination / onward destination.

    Passengers who connect to flights departing before 10:15 hrs may take the last ferry from the day before. Please click here for the list of participating airlines with early morning connecting flights..

  • Minimum Connection Time

    If you’re transferring from Mainland China / Macao, you should reserve sufficient time for the following procedures:

    • Arriving at Mainland China / Macao ports 30 minutes before scheduled ferry departure time
    • Ferry journey time

  • Baggage

    Ferry hand baggage must not exceed 9" x 14" x 22". For details about the baggage regulations, please check with the ferry operators or airlines.

    Ferry passengers transferring at HKIA are only allowed to stay in the restricted area. They are not permitted to collect their bags stored in the non-restricted area.

    Note: Upon arriving at SkyPier Terminal, passengers with self-printed boarding pass are required to obtain an official boarding pass from the SkyPier Terminal airline check-in counters.

Upstream Check-in

Passengers on participating airlines can check their baggage, obtain boarding pass and apply for refund of the pre-paid Air Passenger Departure Tax Refund at the following PRD and Macao ferry ports:

  • Dongguan Humen
  • Guangzhou Nansha
  • Guangzhou Pazhou
  • Macao (Maritime Ferry Terminal)
  • Macao (Taipa)*
  • Shenzhen Fuyong
  • Shenzhen Shekou
  • Zhongshan
  • Zhuhai Jiuzhou*

Please arrive at the check-in counter at least 60 minutes before your ferry's scheduled departure time.

To check in at upstream ferry ports, you must have:

  • A valid ferry ticket
  • A valid air ticket with a confirmed flight booking for same day travel (including mid-night departures)
  • A valid travel document and entry / transit visa for your destination if required

Please reserve sufficient time for your connecting flight and arrive at SkyPier Terminal at least 90minutes to 120minutes before your flight departure. Passenger may click here for the requirement on minimum connection time. For detail, please check with ferry operators or airlines.

Baggage Tag Through

Air Passenger Departure Tax Refund

Passengers who arrive at Hong Kong International Airport by cross-boundary ferry service for onward departure by air are exempted from the Air Passenger Departure Tax (APDT). A refund coupon will be issued to passengers with APDT paid with their air ticket during check-in at SkyPier Terminal or the Mainland China and Macao ports. You can collect your refund in cash by presenting the refund coupon to the “Departure tax refund desk” at SkyPier Terminal after completing security screening within the same day.

  • For eligible passengers without a refund coupon, you should apply for a refund through the Civil Aviation Department (CAD) of the HKSAR Government. Details are available on the CAD website.
  • If you have a refund coupon but fail to claim or collect your refund at SkyPier Terminal, you should contact your airline directly for refund.
