The road to a sustainable recovery

The Airport Authority (AA) took part in the Business Environment Council’s EnviroSeries Conference 2020 on 8 July. Under the theme of “Business Sustainability in the midst of Disruption, Turbulence and Recovery”, the conference facilitated discussions among different industry leaders in Hong Kong to explore innovative, low-carbon approaches to COVID-19 recovery. The event also showcased how corporate leaders have incorporated long-term sustainability considerations into their recovery plans.

During the conference, AA introduced one of the COVID recovery initiatives for the airport community. AA has offered to buy diesel-powered ground services equipment (GSE) from ramp handling operators (RHO), and to allow them to use the GSE rent free for an initial period. This measure would improve the cash flow of RHOs while enabling AA to assume greater control on the rate of conversion to an all-electric-powered GSE fleet.
