"It's more than a job – it's a career!"

I truly enjoy my meaningful work at HKIA, which connects Hong Kong with the rest of the world and facilitates our city's social and economic growth. As an engineer, it was an honour to participate in HKIA's construction in the 1990's and the planning for the three-runway system in the 2010's. Both are important infrastructure projects that support Hong Kong's long-term development and prosperity.

My work at AA has always been fast-paced and interesting! Despite my civil engineering background, I've been given opportunities to rotate to many different departments for greater exposure. Over the past 20 years, I’ve worked in airfield design, technical maintenance, terminal operations and was even seconded to Zhuhai Airport.

AA provides comprehensive training and development that made me an all-rounded airport development and management professional.

Working at AA is a unique experience. It's more than just a job – it's a career.

Working at AA is challenging and definitely not easy, but it offers great experience unavailable anywhere else in Hong Kong.

Despite being one of the busiest airports in the world, Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has continued to improve its processes, facilities and services to exceed passengers’ expectations. I really appreciate that I've had opportunities to lead and participate in many different projects at the Airport Authority (AA) that help uphold our high standards for both Hong Kong people and travellers from around the world.

One of my most memorable experiences was establishing a dedicated team to strengthen our understanding of customers holistically, and deepen engagement with internal and external stakeholders.  We initiated several new surveys and consultancy projects to provide in-depth customer experience insights that could help different departments formulate their service excellence strategies.  This brought me a great sense of accomplishment.

My horizons have also been broadened through close collaboration with select airports and industry players in the Mainland as well as international hub airports.  I found it very interesting to participate in the development of marketing strategies to promote HKIA’s connectivity in the Greater Bay Area market catchment and international arena.

There are challenges ahead, but the AA's culture of strong teamwork and commitment will continue to strengthen HKIA as a leading international aviation hub. I am so grateful to be a member of this amazing team!

Teddy Wong   Assistant Manager, Airfield

I love challenges, which is why I chose to be an airfield officer. There’s never a dull day working at the airport!

Travellers may not see us, but our role is essential in ensuring safe operations. Every day we work around the clock to make sure HKIA is a safe place to fly. Working in inclement weather is particularly challenging, as we have to ensure the safety of our colleagues while minimising impact on passengers. I feel a strong sense of duty in providing a pleasant and smooth experience for travellers.

My role requires a wide range of professional knowledge and skills. I never have the chance to get bored as I’m constantly learning, acquiring new skills and putting them to use. It’s exciting to have so many diverse duties – from guiding planes to parking bays, to overseeing airside construction and maintenance, to performing bird control, and even responding to different types of emergencies. These all adding colours and varieties to my career here.

Working at HKIA fills me with a sense of pride, satisfaction and achievement.
