E-buses rolling with zero emissions

14  July  2020

To reduce the carbon emission on airport operations, the Airport Authority (AA) has introduced electric airside passenger and staff buses at HKIA in phases to ensure the smooth transition from diesel to electric-powered airside vehicles. These e-buses boast zero tailpipe emissions, a driving range of up to 200 kilometres and a quick charge within 90 minutes.

Ten electric passenger buses and six electric staff buses are already in operation. AA’s e-bus fleet will grow to 25 in the coming year. With the expansion of HKIA into a three-runway system, AA aims to replace all airside diesel passenger buses with electric buses by 2024.
