Digitalising baggage reconciliation process

To boost the operational efficiency and create a greener baggage reconciliation process at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), the Airport Authority (AA) started the full implementation of a Digitalised Baggage Containerisation Report (eBCR) to reconcile baggage loaded onto each aircraft in mid-December 2020. With the eBCR, staff can file digital reports using their tablets, which are then automatically sent to the airlines, ramp handling agents and Baggage Management Office, without the need to fill out and submit the paper reports manually.

The new system enhances the operational efficiency of baggage reconciliation, and hence contributes to the On-Time Performance of departure flights. It also saves 500,000 pieces of paper per year.
