Cathay Pacific: Setting target to halve single-use plastics usage

20  August  2020

Cathay Pacific Group has set a target to eliminate 50% of its annual usage of single-use plastics by the end of 2022, which is equivalent to almost 200 million individual single-use plastic items a year. Cathay Pacific Group will be reviewing all single-use plastics in its operations and exploring greener alternatives.

Among the efforts are sustainably sourced First and Business Class pillowcases and duvet covers in reusable bags; the removal of plastic straws, stirrers, and other plastic products; and the replacement of plastic cups and toothpicks with paper and wooden options respectively by the end of this year. In addition, Cathay Pacific Group seeks to move towards a more circular economy by maximising the use of recycled materials.
