Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) achieved outstanding results at the CLP Smart Energy Award 2025, receiving Sustainable Carbon Neutral Award – Excellence Award in the Public Utility category. The award recognised AAHK’s efforts in reducing airport-wide emissions and energy use.
AAHK has committed to achieve Net Zero Carbon by 2050, with a midpoint target of 55% absolute emissions reduction by 2035 from a 2018 baseline. To achieve decarbonisation goals, AAHK established a comprehensive decarbonisation roadmap and implemented various initiatives, such as adopting cutting edge building analytics technology for the air handling units at Terminal 1. In addition, AAHK completed a one-year Renewable Diesel (RD) pilot in 2025, making Hong Kong International Airport the first airport in Asia to use RD in ground services equipment. This low-carbon fuel can reduce up to 95% lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions compared to petroleum diesel.
