AAHK shared its Renewable Diesel adoption journey

29  September  2025

At ReThink HK 2025 on 11 September, Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) presented its approach to introducing a transition fuel, renewable diesel (RD), at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) and its collaboration with the airport community throughout this journey. During the panel discussion titled “It’s Time to Renew your Energy”, AAHK Chief Sustainability Officer Peter Lee shared HKIA’s journey as the first airport in Asia to use RD in ground services equipment, and the successful completion of the one-year RD pilot in March 2025, in partnership with Shell Hong Kong Limited and Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited.

To promote wider RD adoption at HKIA, AAHK also formed an HKIA RD Working Group, facilitating knowledge-sharing and discussions on fuel performance within the airport community. Leveraging the success of the pilot, AAHK is now ramping up the RD usage across its fleet and emergency generators.
