Collaboration on carbon reduction

The 4th Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) Carbon Management Senior Executive Roundtable Luncheon took place on 15 January, bringing together the Airport Authority (AA) and 48 airport community business partners to share their latest carbon reduction strategies and initiatives.

During his welcome remarks, AA CEO Fred Lam pointed out that HKIA, through the concerted efforts of the AA and airport business partners, achieved an 8.7% reduction in airport-wide carbon intensity in 2018 relative to 2015 levels. The Guest of Honour, Business Environment Council Chairman Richard Lancaster, delivered a keynote speech that emphasised the importance of setting long-term targets that help organisations track a path towards a low-carbon future. Lam and Lancaster then presented awards to nine airport business partners with outstanding performance in carbon reduction under the HKIA Carbon Reduction Award Scheme.
