Encouraging green practices across industries

As a Gold Award (Public and Community Services) winner at the 2018 Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence (HKAEE) initiated by the Environmental Campaign Committee, the AA was invited by the Award Committee to host a visit for 2019 HKAEE applicants to learn about HKIA’s leading green initiatives and encourage the adoption of eco-friendly management measures in the public and business sectors.

On 2 August, the AA welcomed over 20 visiting organisations from the construction, property management, logistics, trading, manufacturing and public sectors. They observed the airport’s energy saving initiatives such as EV Smart-to-Charge facilities, water-cooled chiller plant and cooling binnacle for terminal air-conditioning systems. The group then toured the food waste handling operations of a restaurant tenant, the refuse room and landside waste station to better understand how food waste is managed and recycled at HKIA.
