







(Hong Kong, 12 June 2026, 1600hrs) – Aviation Security Company Limited (AVSECO) today held a celebration ceremony at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) to mark the 5th anniversary of the establishment of AVSECO Canine Unit (ACU). The event also showcased the development of ACU and highlighted the achievements of AVSECO’s collaboration with the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF), Customs and Excise Department (C&ED) and the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) over the past five years.
Fred Lam, Chairman of Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK); Lo Wai-kwok, Chairman of AVSECO Board of Directors and AAHK Board member; Vivian Cheung, Chief Executive Officer of AAHK; Joe Chow, Commissioner of Police; Chan Tsz-tat, Commissioner of Customs and Excise; Victor Liu, Director-General of Civil Aviation; Patrick Lai, Acting Director of Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation ; and Jacob Cheung, Executive Director of AVSECO officiated the ceremony.

Vivian Cheung, said “With the commissioning of the Three-runway System and Terminal 2, passenger traffic at HKIA continues to grow. The event featured a demonstration by working dogs from different departments working together to uphold the security of the airport. AVSECO, HKPF, C&ED and AFCD also showcased the development and services of their respective working dog units, as well as the achievements of inter-departmental collaboration in enhancing airport security.
Established in 2021, the ACU has been dedicated to safeguarding the security of HKIA. ACU currently comprises 20 professional detection canines responsible for patrol duties at non-restricted areas of HKIA for explosives, firearms and ammunition detections. The canines also serve as friendly and approachable HKIA ambassadors to welcome travellers from around the world.
