(Hong Kong, 4 November 2025, 1730hrs) – Super Terminal Expo 2025, a major international event showcasing the latest developments in the world’s aviation, technology and transportation industries, kicked-off its second Asian edition at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) today.
With the theme, “Shaping Asia's Future Transportation Hubs”, the event gathered over 6,000 professionals from around the world, representing over 200 major airport managing bodies, airlines, as well as ground services, engineering, technology and transportation companies. More than 120 brands and exhibitors also showcased the latest technologies and development trends.
As a major Strategic Partner of the event, HKIA is one of the few airports in the world leading in both passenger and cargo service, with extensive intermodal connectivity, as well as in technological applications to airport operations and passenger service.
Officiating the opening ceremony of the expo were Mable Chan, Secretary for Transport and Logistics of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government; Fred Lam, Chairman of Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK); Vivian Cheung, Chief Executive Officer of AAHK; Zhang Qing, Director General of Department of Development Planning, Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC); Clara Wong, Acting Director-General of Civil Aviation; and Margaret Connolly, President & CEO, Informa Markets Asia, the event’s organiser.
Mable Chan remarked in her address, “Located right in the middle of Asia and as the premier gateway for passengers and goods of Chinese Mainland, the world second largest economy, Hong Kong is truly the perfect backdrop for the discussion of the theme ‘Shaping Asia's Future Transportation Hubs’. With the commissioning of the Three-runway System of the Hong Kong International Airport last year, we are not just expanding our capacity; we are strengthening a vital bridge for global connectivity, entering an era of unprecedented growth and global partnership.”
Fred Lam, said at the ceremony, “The future of aviation relies on ongoing investment in infrastructure. Our Three-runway System lays the foundation for Hong Kong airport’s long-term growth. It is one of the biggest infrastructure projects in Hong Kong’s history. We have also continuously developed our intermodal services. Through bonded ferries or buses, Chinese Mainland passengers can directly reach our airport’s airside for seamless boarding. Later this month, passengers from the Chinese Mainland and Macao will be able to drive their own vehicles to a car park right next to our airport and reach the airside for boarding flights, without the need to clear Hong Kong border controls. Our investment in infrastructure and services has given investors the confidence to grow their business here.”
Margaret Connolly said, “After our inaugural (2024) event, the feedback was clear — Asia needed a dedicated platform where terminal developers, designers, operators, and suppliers could come together to tackle our industry's unique challenges.”
The event offers a comprehensive exhibition showcasing the latest innovations, and a conference programme covering topics such as the low-altitude economy, the Air Silk Road, air cargo and ground operations, featuring expert presentations and thought leadership.
The expo will not only unlock business opportunities for the aviation industry, generate impetus to the wider economy of Hong Kong and the region, but also further promote Hong Kong’s position as the hub of major global events.
