(Hong Kong, 23 September 2025, 2130hrs) – Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has completed the handling of all around 600 scheduled flights today as Super Typhoon Ragasa continues to affect Hong Kong. All passengers in the restricted areas of the terminal building have all departed by air or left.
Adverse weather is expected to continue affecting flight operations, with only a limited number of cargo flights scheduled for tomorrow. Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) has activated the Flight Rescheduling Control System for airlines to plan for flights resumption when weather conditions permit.
At the Airport Emergency Centre, AAHK continues to work closely with members of the airport community including the Civil Aviation Department and airlines, to ensure effective communications and preparedness. Measures including securing airbridges, enhancing drainage and flood prevention around airport roads and works sites have been implemented.
Meanwhile, the new Coach Hall commenced operations today as the first phase launch of the expanded Terminal 2 (T2). This facility offers one-stop cross-boundary coach services, marking a new milestone in connecting HKIA with the Greater Bay Area.
Seamlessly connected to Terminal 1 (T1), the Coach Hall provides 41 parking bays for tour buses, cross-boundary coaches, limousines, crew and resident coaches, as well as ticketing counters for cross-boundary transport. The Coach Hall consolidates services previously scattered across T1, Car Park 1, and Car Park 4, offering integrated multimodal transport and a more comfortable indoor waiting environment.
As the next phase of commissioning, the departure facilities at T2 are scheduled to open in the first quarter of next year.
