(Hong Kong, 28 May 2025, 2200hrs) – Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) supports the Government's proposal to extend the exemption of Air Passenger Departure Tax to cover all transit passengers arriving in Hong Kong via land and sea boundary control points, facilitating all kinds of transit passengers.
AAHK will discuss and study the exemption arrangements and implementation details with the Government, aiming to finalise the proposal as soon as possible to enhance the competitiveness and intermodal connectivity of Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA).
AAHK also supports the Government in taking forward the proposal to extend the time limit for air-to-air transfer passengers to be exempted from Air Passenger Departure Tax, with effect from 1 October 2025, allowing those departing on the next calendar day (i.e. a maximum of 48 hours) after arrival by air, sea or land to enjoy the exemption. It can support Hong Kong’s tourism industry by encouraging more transfer passengers to spend time visiting the city’s attractions and enjoy its retail and restaurant offerings.
