(HONG KONG, 9 November 2021, 1700hrs) – In view of the recommendation from the Government and health experts that persons with a higher risk of infection can receive a third dose of COVID-19 vaccine, Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) announced that all airport staff belonging to the Targeted Groups are required to receive the third dose of vaccination.
The Government has recommended that the third dose of vaccine should be administered at least six months from the second dose. AAHK urges airport staff under the Targeted Groups to receive the third jab as soon as possible after the completion of the six-month interval from their second dose of vaccination. As all airport staff belonging to the Targeted Groups have already received their second dose under AAHK’s requirement, they are required to receive the third dose no later than 30 April 2022.
Staff of AAHK and its contractors will be given leave on the day of receiving the third jab. AAHK also urges the airport community to provide leave and other support to their staff for receiving the third dose.
The Targeted Groups include those handling high-risk cargo or having unavoidable close range contact with arrival and transfer/transit passengers and crew within 1.5-metre without partition or barrier, such as airline and ground agent staff, ramp coordinators, inflight catering coordinators, cargo loading staff, as well as cabin and lavatory cleaners.
All other airport staff, especially those who fall into the priority groups under the Government’s recommendation, are highly encouraged to receive the third dose of vaccination to ensure protection for themselves, passengers, and other airport staff.
