HKIA Celebrates Year of the Pig

(HONG KONG, 5 February 2019) – Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) held a celebration on the first day of the Chinese New Year (CNY) to share the happiness with passengers and welcome the Year of the Pig. Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administration Region; Jack So Chak-Kwong, Chairman of Airport Authority Hong Kong (AA); Raymond So, Acting Secretary for Transport and Housing; Simon Li, Director-General of Civil Aviation; Fred Lam, Chief Executive Officer of the AA, representatives from the Government departments operating at HKIA and airport community attended the celebration. They attended the eye-dotting ceremony of the dancing lions and enjoyed the singing and dancing performances.

During the CNY holiday period, HKIA will arrange Lion Dance performance, God of Fortune Meet and Greet to the passenger at the Meeters & Greeters Hall, the Central Concourse of Terminal 1 and Midfield Concourse in the restricted area. To cater for the increasing number of passengers, the AA has deployed additional staff to provide assistance to passengers, while some retail and catering outlets will also extend their service hours. The number of security screening channels will be increased if needed. Public transportation services to and from the airport, including the Airport Express Line and some public bus routes, will add frequencies and extend the operating hours. Meanwhile, the frequencies of the high-speed ferry services at SkyPier will also be enhanced.
