Airport Authority Launches "HKIA In Focus" Photo Competition

(HONG KONG, 10 April 2015) – If a picture paints a thousand words, what story would you tell through your lens at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA)? A "selfie" at the boarding gate before your exciting journey; the heart-stirring moments of reunion and farewell; an iron bird spreading its wings high up in the sky; or the crimson sunset over the runway?
The Airport Authority Hong Kong (AA) has launched the “HKIA In Focus” Photo Competition, inviting photo submissions that tell the unique stories behind the airport. Successful entrants will win a chance to access restricted area and capture rare views of HKIA with their cameras. Submitted photos should showcase the beauty of the airport including its infrastructure, scenery, operations, people and more.
The competition comprises a first round and the final round. During the first round, contestants should submit their photo together with a brief caption via the competition website, email or Instagram. The AA will select 30 entrants from the first round to compete in the final round, based on the photo’s correlation with the theme, photographic skill and composition, creativeness and interpretation, as well as emotional appeal.
On the day of the final round, the AA will arrange the finalists to visit various locations within restricted area of HKIA, allowing them to take pictures of the airport from different perspectives and further compete for the final glory. Based on the photos submitted in both the first round and the final round, the judging panel will determine the Grand Prize, First Runner-up and Second Runner-up winners, who will take home with attractive prizes.

Photo Submission
| Website Upload | Follow the instructions to upload your photo(s) to the competition website www.hkairportphotos.com with caption(s) of no more than 50 words each. Each participant may include up to five photos for each submission. |
| Email the photo(s) and caption(s) together with your name, the first four digits of your HKID or passport number, age and contact number to submission@hkairportphotos.com. The overall size of the attached photo(s) should not exceed 15MB. | |
| Upload the photo(s) with descriptions to your Instagram, hashtag #hkairportphotos, and set the privacy of the photo(s) to public. |
Prizes
| First Round | Successful entrants selected for the final will each receive a cash prize of HK $500 (30 winners). "My Favourite IG Photo" Award (one winner) Participants who upload their photo(s) to Instagram will automatically compete for the "My Favourite IG Photo" Award. The one whose photo submission receives the most "likes" on Instagram during the first round will win a cash prize of HK $500. |
