(HONG KONG, 22 May 2008) — Airport Authority Hong Kong today welcomed the appointments by the Government of Dr the Honourable Marvin Cheung Kin-tung as Chairman and Ir Dr the Honourable Raymond Ho Chung-tai and Mr Benjamin Hung Pi-cheng as new members of the Airport Authority Board. Dr Cheung will succeed Dr Victor Fung, who will have completed three 3-year terms on 31 May 2008. The Airport Authority also welcomed the re-appointment of 10 Board members.
Welcoming the appointments, Airport Authority Chief Executive Officer, Mr Stanley Hui, said, “Under Dr Fung’s leadership, Hong Kong International Airport has been consistently recognised as the world’s best airport. We’ve made significant inroads on the Mainland and continued to enhance our facilities and services. We are most grateful for Dr Fung’s vision, leadership and guidance.
“We look forward to working with Dr Cheung and building on this solid foundation,” added Mr Hui.
From 1 June 2008, the Airport Authority Board will comprise 14 members. In addition to the changes outlined above, Dr Lo Ka-shui and Mr He Guangbei, who have served the Board as members for five years, have been re-appointed for a term of two years from 1 June 2008 to 31 May 2010. The following members have been re-appointed for another 3-year term with effect from 1 June 2008: the Honourable Jasper Tsang Yok-sing, the Honourable Andrew Liao Cheung-sing, the Honourable Vincent Fang Kang, Mr Wilfred Wong Ying-wai, Ir Edmund Leung Kwong-ho, the Secretary for Transport and Housing Ms Eva Cheng, the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Professor K C Chan and Director-General of Civil Aviation Mr Norman Lo Shung-man. Chief Executive Officer Mr Stanley Hui Hon-chung continues to serve as an ex officio member.
