Airport Authority signs aircraft ramp handling services franchise agreement with Jardine Air Terminal Services Limited

(HONG KONG, 26 September 1996) -- The Airport Authority (AA) today signed an agreement with Jardine Air Terminal Services Limited (JATS) to provide aircraft ramp handling services -- the last of three such franchises -- at Hong Kong's new airport.

Taking up an area of around 2,393 square metres at the passenger terminal, the facility will operate for a term of 10 years after the new airport opens.

The shareholders of JATS are Jardine Airport Services Limited (which is jointly owned by Jardine, Matheson & Co, Limited and China National Aviation Corporation) and China Airlines (Taiwan).

The terms of the agreement signed today were agreed by the British and Chinese sides of the Airport Committee of the Joint Liaison Group in May this year.
