The departure facilities of Terminal 2 (T2) at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) will commence operations on 27 May 2026. Fifteen airlines, including the three home-based carriers: HK Express Airways, Hong Kong Airlines and Greater Bay Airlines, will relocate their departures check-in service to T2 in different batches. The target is to complete the relocation to T2 by mid-June 2026.
Passengers can reach T2 by various public transport options. The Airport Express platform seamlessly connects T2 departures level and Terminal 1 (T1). Train doors on both sides will open to serve the two terminal buildings. Twenty-nine airport bus routes will add a stop at the T2 departures level. Passengers arriving in taxis or cars can disembark at the kerb side of T2 departures level. In addition, a short covered walkway directly connects T2 with Car Park 3, a six-storey facility with over 1,000 parking spaces for the public.
The eight new aisles at T2 departures hall offer 160 check-in counters in total. Passengers can proceed to use the self check-in service and Smartphone Express Bag Drop service at the brand new self service area located at aisles R, S, T, and U, or complete check-in at the airline counters. After check-in, passengers can proceed through e-Security Gates to the restricted area for security screening and immigration procedures. They can then take the Automated People Mover to T1 boarding gates directly.
