HKIA Midfield Concourse Converts to Temporary Specimen Collection Centre

26  August  2020

As a facilitation of the HKSAR Government's quarantine procedures for arriving persons at Hong Kong International Airport, the Temporary Specimen Collection Centre (TSCC) of the Department of Health was relocated from the AsiaWorld-Expo to the Midfield Concourse (MFC) in the restricted area of Hong Kong International Airport on 18 August. Flight operations at the MFC is currently suspended. Its departures level, with floor area of around 33,400 square meters, is set up as the TSCC. In just less than two weeks, the seats, boarding gates, carpeting at the MFC were replaced with specimen collection booths, quarantine arrangement counters, and spacious waiting areas for passengers with new flooring. The modification would not have been possible without the collaboration of over 250 people from the airport community and relevant Government departments who all worked tirelessly to prepare for the operation of TSCC at the MFC.
