Introduction

Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) is committed to becoming one of the world’s greenest airports.

The Airport Authority (AA) actively seeks and implements best practices in environmental management. Adopting an “airport-wide” approach, the AA works closely with its business partners, suppliers and contractors, passengers, the local community, regulators and other stakeholders to reduce HKIA's environmental footprint.

This ongoing process involves:

  1. Measuring HKIA's performance and benchmarking against hub-sized and environmentally leading airports worldwide;
  2. Developing, implementing and updating a 5-year environmental plan to reduce HKIA’s environmental footprint; and
  3. Integrating environmental plans into the AA's wider corporate plans.
