Inspiring future aviation leaders

Young people play an important role in cultivating and supporting the development of Hong Kong’s aviation industry. To provide young people with a more in-depth understanding of airport operations and Hong Kong International Airport’s (HKIA) future development, we regularly organise airport tours, educational visits and educational activities as an extension to classroom learning.

  • School Airport Visit
  • College Airport Visit
  • Visit to Airport & Community Partners

Airport Youth Career Day

The debut of "Airport Youth Career Day" was successfully held at the airport by the Airport Authority Hong Kong (AA) in 2023. Through a series of talks, exhibitions, visits and games, young people were inspired by diverse jobs, facilities and courses within the aviation industry, providing useful employment and study information for aviation enthusiasts. With the overwhelming response, similar events are being planned in near future.

Visit to Airport & Community Partners

It is always our mission to excel in the operation of HKIA, and foster a robust culture of sustainability concurrently.

We work closely with our business partners to deliver world-class services for travelers. Through visits to airport & community partners, young people will experience the airport's daily operations, as well as understand the services of our community partners.

We recommend registered groups to participate in these visits to airport and community partners. Final arrangement is subject to availability of the business partners concerned.

AVSECO Canine Unit (ACU)   NEW

Managed by the Aviation Security Company Limited (AVSECO), AVSECO Canine Unit has been set up to further enhance the airport security. Canines step up patrol in the terminal and are capable to detect explosives upon completion of training. They also act as airport ambassadors to welcome world travelers.

Hong Kong International Aviation Academy  NEW

The Hong Kong International Aviation Academy (HKIAA) is established by AA in 2016. Being the first civil aviation academy in Hong Kong, it has partnered with local and overseas educational institutions, offering a comprehensive aviation-related curriculum, for young people pursuing a career in aviation industry. Visitors could visit aviation-themed training facilities at the Academy.

Food Angel

We have carried out the HKIA Food Rescue Programme in partnership with Food Angel for many years, collecting surplus food from restaurants and caterers at HKIA. Through the on-the-spot visit, participants could understand more about waste management in an environmental friendly way.

It is advised to reserve additional 1 hour to join the visit to airport and the community partner.

Partnership Programme

To further widen students' exposure and build up closer communications with schools, we actively collaborate with different organizations and groups, including the Education Bureau’s "Business-School Partnership Programme" and the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce’s "Business-School Partnership Programme". AA also values the connection with school principals and teachers through activities such as airport visits for Secondary School Heads Associations from different districts in Hong Kong.
