Introduction

The AA pledged to make HKIA the world’s greenest airport.

In 2012, the Airport Authority (AA) pledged to make Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) the World’s Greenest Airport. This pledge serves as a goal and a driver to continuously improve HKIA’s environmental performance. The AA has established a set of corporate-wide policies, which are endorsed by the AA’s Chief Executive Officer, to reiterate its commitment to achieving high standards of environmental performance. To accelerate the rate of environmental footprint reduction across HKIA, the AA actively develops and implements best practices and innovative measures in environmental management through:

  • Implementing ISO 14001-certified environmental management system (EMS) to manage, measure and continuously improve HKIA’s environmental performance; and
  • Implementing a third-party monitoring programme to engage business partners in environmental matters.
