Sustainable Celebrations

The Airport Authority (AA) continued its green tradition of collecting and recycling of discarded festive materials following the celebrations.
AA once again joined environmental charity Greeners Action’s Lai See Packets Reuse and Recycling Programme; AA set up collection points across different locations – including Terminal 1, HKIA Tower and HKIA Commercial Building – to collect red packets from airport staff and visitors for possible future reuse.
AA also took part in the Environmental Protection Department’s Natural Christmas Trees Recycling Programme and Peach Blossom Tree Recycling Programme. All the trees collected at HKIA were sent to the recycling centre Y.PARK in Tuen Mun, where they will be reused, recycled or upcycled.
