Green Credentials of 3RS Recognised

Airport Authority’s (AA) sustainability performance in relation to the design and construction of third runway and associated works has been commended with the Whole Team Award and the top rating of “Excellent” under the Civil Engineering Environmental Quality Assessment and Award Scheme (BREEAM Infrastructure, formerly CEEQUAL). The Award was presented to AA at the BRE China Award ceremony in Shanghai on 30 October.

The Award recognised the way in which AA has sought to balance development with sustainability while implementing the Three-runway System (3RS) project. AA was also praised for going beyond regulatory requirements by establishing a Green Airport Design Strategy to drive environmental best practices and innovative solutions in the design and implementation of the 3RS project.

Developed by the Institution of Civil Engineers in the United Kingdom, the scheme aims to improve the sustainability of civil engineering projects.
