Carbon management achievements recognised

HKIA was recently awarded Level 4, “Transformation”, in the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) programme by Airports Council International (ACI).

The accreditation recognises AAHK’s commitment to carbon management, underpinned by the HKIA 2050 Net Zero Carbon Pledge that aligns with the Paris Agreement goals to reduce absolute emissions. To support the long-term pledge, AAHK has developed a comprehensive carbon management plan that outlines its pathway to achieve the target, and a stakeholder engagement plan that communicates its continuous collaboration with airport business partners and third parties to accelerate carbon reduction across HKIA.

Initially launched by ACI Europe in 2009, ACA is the only institutionally endorsed, global carbon management certification standard for airports. It aims to help the airport industry reduce its carbon footprint, and benefit from lowered energy consumption and shared expertise.
