AA’S ESG Performance Advanced

The Airport Authority (AA) received an improved environmental, social and governance (ESG) rating of 75 out of 100 from S&P Global Ratings, up from the strong inaugural rating of 74 last year. The result demonstrates AA’s preparedness for adapting to potential disruptors as it works to maintain Hong Kong International Airport’s position as a global and regional aviation hub.

The higher rating was attributable to AA’s enhanced sustainability performance, in particular its sound management of the environmental risks associated with the Three-runway System project’s reclamation works, and its 2050 Net Zero Carbon pledge and carbon management plan that effectively manage greenhouse gas emissions directly from airport operations and aviation-related business partners.

AA also scored highly on social and governance ratings. In addition to the use of digital technology to boost airport services quality as well as the safety and well-being of staff and passengers, the organisation was praised for its collaborations with business partners and the local community. Its reporting and disclosure were also assessed as comprehensive, while its governance structure was deemed to have an adequate level of independence.
