A Contractor Worker and A Cargo Handling Staff Preliminary Tested Positive for COVID-19<br>Relevant Areas Thoroughly Cleaned and Disinfected

(HONG KONG, 5 January 2021, 2000hrs)  –  Airport Authority Hong Kong (AA) received reports respectively that a contractor worker of Terminal 2 (T2) modification works and a staff member of Hong Kong Airport Services Limited (HAS) have been preliminary confirmed to have contracted COVID-19. Relevant work areas have been arranged to be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.

The AA was informed by Leighton-Chun Wo Joint Venture that a T2 site worker had been preliminarily tested positive for COVID-19. The concerned worker last reported duty on this morning and he left relevant site immediately upon notification. The concerned staff had worn mask all the time while working. Those who have been in contact with the concerned worker are arranged to undergo COVID-19 test and stay home while waiting for test results.

The AA was also notified by HAS that a staff member had been preliminarily tested positive for COVID-19. The concerned staff was responsible for cargo handling at Air Mail Centre and he last reported duty on 3 January. HAS has arranged staff members who have been in the same team with the concerned staff to undergo COVID-19 test and stay home while waiting for the results.

The AA has stringent guidelines for contractors and airport service providers to ensure public health and safety of airport staff and other airport users.
