Our Future Airport, Beyond Your Imagination Airport Authority Launches "Design Your Airport" Competition

(HONG KONG, 18 March 2016) – If you have the opportunity, how would you design your ideal airport? In addition to efficient check-in process, a wide variety of food and dining outlets, vast shopping choices, and a homey and comfortable ambience for waiting for boarding, what other airport facilities and services can enrich airport experience? Airport Authority Hong Kong (AA) has launched "Design Your Airport" Competition to invite the public to share their ideas and come up with creative yet practical facilities for the future airport.
The AA is now accepting entries for the competition, and participants may choose from any of the following design themes: 1) Highlighting Hong Kong’s local culture, 2) Enhancing travel experience, 3) Relating to the aviation industry. The judging panel, comprising representatives from AA and professionals from the architectural and engineering fields, will select the winners based on each entry’s relevance to the chosen theme, creativity, feasibility, aesthetics and sustainability.
The competition features two categories: the Secondary Student Group and the Open Group. All Hong Kong secondary school students may enter the Secondary Student Group as individuals, or as part of a team comprising no more than four students; and teams may comprise students from different secondary schools. There is no limit to the number of teams entering the competition from each secondary school. Any Hong Kong resident may enter the Open Group as individuals, or as part of a team comprising no more than four people. The Grand Prize Winner of the Secondary Student Group will receive a cash prize of HK$10,000 and two round-trip Economy Class air tickets to Asia destinations. The Grand Prize Winner of the Open Group will receive a cash prize of HK$50,000 and two round-trip Business Class air tickets to Asia destinations.
The AA has launched an official website for the competition, www.designyourairport.com, which contains full details and arrangements.
