About the project

The research project investigated the distribution, population size, body size and habitat preference of local pipefish population in Lantau and nearby waters through underwater surveys and larvae survey.

Twelve underwater visual censuses and six fish larval surveys were conducted during the project period. During the survey, only one adult Pacific Seaweed Pipefish, Syngnathus schlegeli, was found in Tung Chung Bay and 10 juvenile pipefish of the same species were discovered during the larval sampling.
