Over the years HKIA has supported and organised a wide range of activities for the betterment of the community.
The Airport Authority (AA) extended a helping hand to less privileged families by organising an airport visit as part of the "Rotary Club Ride 2012" programme on 18 March. Around 300 participants enjoyed taking in the sights of Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) at the SkyDeck and visiting the HKIA Master Plan 2030 exhibition.
The AA brought joy to over 420 senior citizens in Tung Chung by co-organising the annual Spring Dinner with Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Tung Chung Integrated Services and the Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council Tung Chung Integrated Services Centre on 2 March 2012. Around 60 volunteers from the AA participated in the event.
On 26 March 2012, the AA treated over 1,000 elderly residents of Tuen Mun to a dinner as it hosted the "Banquet for the Elderly in Tuen Mun" for the fourth year. In cooperation with the Tuen Mun Respect for the Aged Association, the event underscores the AA's ongoing initiatives to reach out and give back to its neighbouring community.
Five elderly couples received a unique present from the AA Staff Club and Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Tung Chung Integrated Services (SKH) on 25 September 2011. Dressed in their beautiful wedding finery adorned with props provided by SKH, the couples had their first ever wedding photos taken by 28 volunteers from the AA and SKH who set out as their exclusive photographers and makeup artists for the day.
The AA joined hands with Hong Kong Neighbourhood Advice Action Council - Tung Chung Integrated Services (NAAC) to run a "Toys and Books Drive" from November 2010 to January 2011. The AA colleagues donated over 40 large boxes of gifts, which were given to less well-off families or placed at the "Children's Corner" at the NAAC centre for children's enjoyment.
