The Airport Authority Hong Kong (AA) is a statutory body with a mandate to operate and maintain Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA). HKIA is one of the busiest international aviation hubs in the world. To meet forecast growth demand for aviation services and enhance its competiveness, the airport is seeking to expand its dual-runway operation into a three-runway system.
Reporting to the Deputy Director, Projects Division, the successful candidate will head the geotechnical section and ensure that the Authority’s medium and long-term development projects are undertaken to best practice engineering standards. Furthermore, s/he will oversee and manage the design development of the land formation works for the airport expansion planning and provide specialist input to the environmental team in the process of EIA application, investigate and ascertain all relevant design and construction issues required to determine the engineering parameters of the land formation, develop implementation phasing and cost estimate, ensure that projects are constructed in compliance with governing codes and regulations.
A minimum of 15 years post chartered experience, with 10 years project management experience at senior level in reclamation works including major marine and reclamation projects. Experience with projects of similar scale and complexity would be beneficial as would previous experience with both “undredged with vertical drains” and “deep cement mixing” reclamation techniques. A civil engineering or equivalent degree is required and preferably a postgraduate qualification in geotechnical, marine or environmental engineering.
