Advanced Cargo Facilities

Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) aims to provide the "best-value" services to airport users in the most efficient and effective manner. To optimise land-use and enable economies of scale in airport support and related cargo services, HKIA has franchised most aviation logistics activities to specific service providers. Each franchise is tendered strictly within the guidelines of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) and awarded on a build-operate-transfer basis. HKIA works in partnership with the franchisees, regularly reviewing their performance and comparing them with accepted international and industry standards.

First Tier Cargo Handling

Asia Airfreight Terminal (AAT)

Designed with capacity to handle 1.5 million tonnes of cargo per year (T1+T2)
Total investment in excess of HK$ 2.5 billion
Equipped with state-of-the-art fully automated cargo handling system
Occupies a total land area of about 8 hectares and a gross floor area of approximately 170,000 m²
The terminal is equipped with special cargo handling facilities – strong / cold rooms, freezers, dangerous goods room, radioactives room
Offers CHINALINK, a one-stop cargo service to / from Pearl River Delta (PRD)
Awarded Transported Asset Protection Association Certification (TAPA)

DHL Central Asia Hub (DHL)

First dedicated express cargo terminal at HKIA
Total investment in excess of HK$1.6 billion

Offers SuperLink China Direct, a one-stop cargo service to/ from PRD

Second Tier Cargo Handling

Marine Cargo Terminal (MCT)

Operated by Chu Kong Air-Sea Union Transportation Co. Ltd
Provides one-stop multimodal service links with 18 PRD ports
Operates round-the clock with a capacity of handling 150,000 tonnes of cargo per year
Offers a 450m quay for berthing vessels

Airport Freight Forwarding Centre (AFFC)

Provides cargo warehousing and logistics operations
Enables freight forwarders to undertake consolidation and distribution at the airport
Occupies a total land area of approximately 6 hectares (including landing platforms and truck parking bays) and a gross floor area of about 139,000 m²

Tradeport Logistic Centre

Operated by Tradeport Hong Kong Limited
Provides a wide range and custom-designed logistics services such as inventory management, order processing and postponement assembly
Occupies a total land area of approximately 1.4 hectares and a gross floor area of about 31,000 m²
