Environmental Fund

The Hong Kong International Airport Environmental Fund was established by the Airport Authority in 2011 to provide funding support for projects, activities and initiatives that promote environmental protection, green living and a sustainable lifestyle in Hong Kong.

Local non-profit making organisations (e.g. environmental groups, community bodies, schools, etc.) are welcome to apply.

  • HKIA x Food Angel – Hong Kong Food Rescue Programme
    Name of Applicant:
    Bo Charity Foundation Limited
    Brief Description:
    The programme aims at rescuing surplus food from catering and restaurant outlets located at and in the proximity of Hong Kong International Airport and Lantau Island. The surplus food will be turned into meals for donation to the underprivileged communities. Food Angel will upgrade the community kitchen in Tung Chung to provide food packs and hot meals to the needy in Tung Chung.

  • Chinese White Dolphin Conservation Research Framework

    Brief Description:
    The project aims to develop a science-based Chinese White Dolphin (CWD) Conservation Research Plan for the Pearl River Estuary (PRE) CWD population and identify future research needs. A steering committee will be set up to monitor and review the conservation plan.

  • Transforming food waste at Hong Kong International Airport into value-added chemicals

    Brief Description:
    This project aims to develop innovative technologies for recycling and valorizing food waste collected in Hong Kong International Airport. Within the framework of food waste dewatering, the dewatered solids will be transformed into value-added marketable chemicals by physicochemical conversion processes. The scientific findings produced by this project will promote circular economy and sustainability for the society.

  • Monitoring of terrestrial non-native insect species in Hong Kong
