(HONG KONG, 21 March 2018) – Children are always curious about everything they see, and Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) is definitely a place full of interesting sights and wonders for them. To stimulate children’s imagination and provide a tool for parent-child reading, Airport Authority Hong Kong (AA) has published its first children’s book, Little Adventure at the Big Airport, a bilingual educational tour of HKIA.

Designed for children aged 3-6 years, the book features animated drawings, inspiring content and interactive pages. The book takes young readers behind the scenes and guides them to discover interesting facts about the airport at each key stage of their journey. It comes with a guidebook for parents and teachers, providing a wealth of additional information about the airport, as well as a glossary of aviation terms to enrich the reading experience.

A special book launch event was held today at the airport’s boarding gate, which is one of the scenes featured in the book. Fred Lam, Chief Executive Officer of the AA, and Lon Lee, the illustrator of the book, attended the event. They were joined by renowned storyteller Carmen Wong, who hosted a storytelling and interactive game session for some 20 children and their parents from the Airport Preschool and Tai Hang Tung Nursery School. All participants at the event enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon at the airport.

Mr Lam said, “Through this book, we hope to arouse the children’s curiosity and interest about the airport, and encourage and facilitate parents to spend quality reading time with their children.”

The book is available for sale at HKIA’s online shop: HKairportshop.com. The AA will also send complimentary copies to over 1,000 kindergartens in Hong Kong. Proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to Hong Kong Christian Service’s "Children's Arts Development Fund" to promote art education and support children’s participation in art classes and activities.
