“Where else can you work on such exciting and complex projects?”

The Management Trainee Programme gave me all-rounded exposure to terminal and airfield operations, retail and advertising - and even business operations in Mainland China.

I was even seconded to Shanghai Hong Kong Airport Management Limited, allowing me to expand my network while applying my experience to retail marketing and Airport Ambassador initiatives at Hongqiao International Airport.

What appeals to me most about AA is its unique working environment. For example, the Annual Aircraft Crash and Rescue Exercise involves co-ordination between more than 20 external and internal parties to test HKIA’s contingency measures, ensuring safety and responsiveness at every level.

Maintaining work-life balance is also important at AA. As a member of the Staff Club Committee, I enjoy helping to organise social events such as Family Fun Day. Functions like these make me feel I’m part of a loving community, and I look forward to developing my career at AA.

The cross-functional job rotations of the AA’s Management Trainee Programme have made my career an exciting and rewarding one. From terminal operations, aviation logistics business development, retail and advertising to an amazing year being seconded to Shanghai Hongqiao Airport, I have been fortunate to work in different professional fields and witness-ideas being turn from sketches into practice at one of the world’s best airports.

Obstacles and challenges are inevitable, but I derived equal sense of achievement and satisfaction from working in the AA, this is particularly so as  I am always surrounded by a team of smart, diligent and inspiring colleagues. I am proud to say that the people are always the best part of the AA. They share, they trust and they empower me to grow and excel throughout my journey in the AA.

The MT Programme is by all means a great fit for those who are always up for new challenges, have aspirations in the aviation industry and desire a fulfilling career in a harmonious working environment.

During my time here, I was given the opportunity to work on the formulation of HKIA’s cargo strategies, lead process improvement initiatives for frontline baggage operation, and immerse myself in a new airport management setting through my secondment to Shanghai Hongqiao Airport’s terminal and commercial divisions.

Regular rotation across various departments equipped me with well-rounded airport management knowledge and the chance to meet many brilliant industry minds. I relished the challenging yet supportive work environment at the AA, where I constantly found myself expanding my capabilities through excellent coaching and the many resources made available to me.

I believe the AA’s Management Trainee Programme is a great first step in an aviation-centric career, and I look forward to growing with the airport during its exciting future.
